As you know, the death toll from the corona-virus continues to rise steadily and is approaching the 100,000 mark nationally. Texas coronavirus numbers are trending upward. Evidence shows that large gatherings are a prime opportunity for the virus to spread because people are coming from different neighborhoods and sharing the same airspace.
Many communities are also reporting an increase in the number of hospitalizations and infections. Public health officials are recommending that the current precautionary measures remain in place. We take this recommendation very seriously.
For this reason, we are re-evaluating the re-opening of Word Of Life Church. Presently, until further notice:
1.) We will NOT be gathering publicly at our campus.
2.) We WILL be hosting worship services online each Sunday’s at 11 AM
3.) We DO encourage small groups to gather if they are able to do so in an open space with proper social distancing. *If you choose to gather in small groups please abide by CDC guidelines and adhere to proper social distancing guidelines.
4.) We ARE providing resources for all groups as well as multiple opportunities to connect online throughout the week.
While our state government has, in kindness, allowed for the reopening of churches (with many restrictions and precautions in place), the Governor is still limiting indoor events to a total attendance of 50% or less.
We have formed a team with Elder Cooper, Elder Paredez, Elder Payne, Deacon Taylor, and Sister Linda Sims, focused on reopening. They will be putting together a step by step process which includes materials, guidelines, resources and up to date information on what we need to do to maintain your safety. This team is looking forward to the reopening however they understand they will also need many volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with this process please email Linda Sims at frogeda123@gmail.com.
It is our calculated and prayerful decision that reopening Word Of Life too early would put members and would put our members and worshipers at grave risk of contracting this unpredictable and potentially fatal disease – it is critical that we continue to adhere to the advice of the CDC and NI-AID.
We CAN continue to BE the church to our community and to each other. We are not driven by the Sunday service, our physical building, or any tradition. We are driven by God’s purposes. As your Pastor I am looking at the science and Listening to the Spirit in prayer.
We are going to shine the light and show a lot of love. And when we are able to gather again in our facility as safely as possible, we’re going to celebrate all the lives changed by the gospel even through a season of being unable to meet physically.
Thanks so much for your support. Keep holding each other up, lifting each other up, and building each other up!
